Guys I've been tuning 6l80e's since 2010 haha, I've always been trying to improve shift feel, quickness and performance. In 2025 I swapped a 6L80e into my 1991 C1500 with an L76 6.0L using the Holley Terminator MAX ECM. I was running a 2010 6L80e from a Silverado 1500 2wd. I couldn't acheive the "feel" I wanted. Being its a swap build, I figured I'd try an SS Camaro OS of the same year model (FULL FLASH of course) and it did help significantly. HOWEVER, I ended up putting a turbo on the truck (still stock converter so a small s364 turbo) and again I didnt like the way it was shifting under power and some of the downshifts werent great either. I know theres alot you can do in the Holley as well, like an ignition map to act as the torque redution for shifts and TQ management. I had that where I felt like it was dialed in pretty good.
Anyway, I figured, "lets try a ZL1 Camaro TCM file, so I swapped in a 2012 ZL1 trans tune (OS: 12652955 ) and....
OMG I LOVE THIS FILE! For a combo like mine its amazing! Lightning fast shifts, quick downshifts, and such good driveablility! Not to mention, 2 drive modes without needing a switch! With my stock shifter in OD position, its normal cruising comfort WITH 2nd gear starts, pull the shifter down 1 position to "3rd" and it goes into the "SPORT" mode, just like in a ZL1, first gear starts, faster shifts and more fun! I did make some changes to get an even more desired reult but i figured I would share this with everyone!
