Installed a turbo kit on a stock 2010 EXT about six months back and have been working with a tuner to get the tranny tuned and shifting properly. After numerous attempts we have yet to resolve the shifting issues, so upon finding your site I have been making a few minor changes in an attempt to start resolving the shift issues. Vehicle is a daily driver, with future plans to trailer a boat once the tranny issues are resolved.
Prior to making any changes based on your articles, the following shift issues were observed.
1-2 shifts were pretty good, although harsh at low RPM/speeds, yet nice and firm at WOT. 2-3 shift was fine under 30% or less throttle, however shifts above this throttle position would enter a neutral condition for 1.5 seconds before 3rd would engage. (When it would shift out of 2nd, it was as if you shifted to neutral while at full throttle, not just a simple flare between gears.) 3-4 shift acted strange as well, seemed to pull down engine RPM, then a long smooth shift to 4th. The odd time the 3-4 shift would complete a simliar neutral shift scenario (similiar to 2-3), although at a much lesser intensity or delay. 5 and 6 shifts were fine, although WOT downshifts from 6th were notchy.
Since finding and studying your site, I have completed a few minor revisions, first being the Fast Learn procedure, as well I have raised the equilavance ratio by 1.5. (There were no changes to this area of the tune from stock in these previous revisions) The Fast Learn procedure failed twice, however it has still made a fairly drastic change to the transmission operating habits. Since these revisions the following shifting has been observed.
1-2 shifts similiar to prior. 2-3 shifts are working excellent, still a little harsh under low RPM/Speed, however 50% throttle up to WOT is working perfectly. 3-4 shifts have yet to cause a neutral condition, the shift acts similar to the previous operation however is not nearly as drawn out as before. 4-5-6 shifts under very light throttle and low RPM have now introduced an "eeew" sound from the tranny and the transmission slips. Seems like insufficient pressure to the clutches at low RPMs. If the shift is under heavier throttle, it seems to shift fine, as well as manual shifting with raised engine RPM shifts well between these gears. Heavy throttle applied after shift to any of these gears exhibit no slippage.
Next, I was planning to revise the Torque Management settings as they do not align with your recommendations. However before doing so I was hoping you could have a look through my recent log trends which I took after these mods and have a review of the trannies health. Fluid is still red, however its color has dulled a little bit. Interested to know what you think of the tranny health as a starting point.
Tune file attached.
