As the title says, I've have the Trans Tune Misery Syndrome or TTMS
This is not a Camaro SS, just an SS, think upgraded G8
Anyway, I'm not a trans tuner of any kind. I can do engines, but stuck with manual trans until this car. being such, I relied on others to tune the trans, and clearly I chose the wrong 3, yes 3, 2 rather known tuners.
When I had just headers the trans tuning was fine. I then installed a cam, 210/218 115 +4,which had 15* of overlap @ .050. Rather tame really, it had 15" of idle vacuum at 600 RPM, slightly noticeable idle, but the trans didn't not like it, that's where the 3rd tuner came it. I had him do the engine and trans. The trans upshifted ok, it was downshifting that was the problem. I felt like it would decide to shift, pull the RPM down, then shift, like it was engine breaking then shift. For the most part this has been fixed, but now when coming to a stop it's 6-5 downshift, 5-4 downshift,3-2 downshift and then just as it comes to a stop 2-1 and that's where it gets really bad. Depending on how fast I am slowing down, will determine the severity of the problem.
Basically the it still lurches. Again, it's like an engine brake, then shifts and causes the car to lurch. Its like it pulls down the RPM, and as the engine responds by increasing throttle opening, it shifts, the car lurches forward. The reason I believe it is more trans is that before the 3rd tuner I put the stock trans tune back in and the trans acted much better in Sport mode.
Frustrated, I installed a new smaller cam 208/216 115 +0. This gave me 18* overlap @ .050 and 18" of idle vacuum and near stock idle, the trans was an improvement but it really illustrated that the problem originates in the tune, or so I think.
The engine is an LS3 with the 6l80E trans w/3.27 rear gear.
I screwed up and updated my HPTuner to 3.0, if you haven't, don't, you can't go back on the same computer. The scanner has changed and I'm just starting to figure it out. To be fair, I think there are changes to the stock '14 trans that the past tuners just aren't familiar with.
So, I need help........
This is the stock and current tune
