NEW!!!

I will make one calibration change for an additional $100 per change. For example, changing a shift point for a given gear is $100 vs changing a shift point and a pressure setting would be $200. That value can be used towards the full custom tuning price.

2015 Chevy SS Sedan 6L80E Fresh Rebuilt Transmission

Good morning Wacker,

Thank you for assembling this site with over ten years of information.

I am reaching out regarding my 2015 Chevy SS Sedan. The build is Tuned by THTP and assembled by me. The build components consist of a Kong 2650/LSX with a BTR's stage III camshaft, NW103 TB, 5" CAI, LS7 MAF, ZL1 Torque converter, Rebuilt Trans From Ace Performance, 40k trucool cooler with -6 lines, DSX Aux fuel Kit, E85, FIC 1300s, 1 7/8 headers, 3" solo exhaust, seven gal Ice tank with massive heat exchanger.

Coming off a great season, I noticed my trans was starting to slip, and it progressively got worse going into mid-November. So I parked the car and pulled the trans in January. I sent the trans to ACE Performance for a Stage II Rebuild in mid-February. I got it back in March, Installed and filled the trans per factory spec, and followed the additional steps to overfill. Finally, I did a small test drive to ensure everything was shifting and working correctly, which went well.

To elaborate, the old trans was the factory trans with 48K and spent the last 15K  boosted @900WHP. Trans had a ZL1 converter and worked flawlessly, but I imagine the HP, lack of cooling, and transmission fluid maintenance are what likely killed it. Outside of that, Trans performed exceptionally well at the strip, drove beautifully on the streets, and I had zero complaints.

With the recent installation and spring coming, I would like to drive my car. My tuner has been pretty busy with his customers prepping and doing TX2K, and I figured it's time for me to learn more about the digital side of my car, so I am not waiting around to move it. My first question is, do I need to perform a fast learn for the rebuild? I have HP Tuners and have some familiarity with how to use it. Second, would the current vehicle/trans tune be sufficient for the rebuilt trans, or is it potentially too aggressive for the new clutches and steels, or not enough? I put three miles on it, barely giving it throttle as I was afraid to drive it. But with no guidance, I figured it was time to seek additional support for my awareness. I can email you the current tune and last log for further advice if needed. Meanwhile, I will continue to comb through your site.

Thanks,

CAM
