I've got my 6L80 apart right now to rebuild the 1234 I smoked and I am considering deleting the waved plate in the 35R clutch while I'm at it so I can squeeze in an extra friction and steel. I already have the Circle D level 4 kit in it but they use the waved plate and just use a extra short 35R apply ring. I believe the extra short 35R apply ring was why my 1234 got burnt. I was going to slightly shorten a stock 35R apply ring to achieve the right clutch clearance with the extra friction and steel, minus wave plate, but still have enough clearance on the 1234 when the 35R applies. I've already done it all and the clearances are within spec. But I havent put it back in the car yet. I'm just wondering what the driveability difference will be.
