Ive been tuning my 6L80e in my G8 for months now trying to get it to work correctly in speed density, Ive come very close to getting it nearly perfect but every now and then theres always little things the tranny does like flares funny gear changes etc, Really doing my head in..... Anyway i put the maf back on and tuned it as the factory has it speed density for the fast transitions and maf for steady state, the 6l80e performed much better again, giving less trouble on gear changes etc, problem with this way is my camshaft has low manifold vacuum and I was getting airflow correlation faults between maf and dynamic airflow causing it to go into reduced power mode lots of times,I eventually turned the fault off, but still driving around at low speed on and off the throttle the difference between dynamic and maff airflows must effect the torque signal to the gearbox, switching from the predicted air flow to maf air flow can be felt under brisk acceleration but not full throttle, I either need to speed more time on modeling the prediction co-efficients or theres something Iam missing if someone wants to fill me in?
Then i happened to be looking at a tune from a 620hp 236/246 cam 454 LSX GM PCM and noticed its tuned to use maf only, so i converted my G8 to maf only and now it drives perfect, has been driving perfect for the last week but I do miss the throttle responce of speed density though.
Modeling airflow in speed density with a camshaft that effects vacuum and keeping the torque signal reliable to the tranny pcm, theres a trick there Iam missing.
